As we approach the end of 2022, we want to share with you our key achievements.
Establishing the National Allergy Council
- The National Allergy Strategy transitioned to the National Allergy Council in September. The inaugural NAC Directors are pictured from left to right, Dr Preeti Joshi, Dr Melanie Wong, Sandra Vale (NAC Manager), Maria Said AM and Kezia Adams
- The National Allergy Council remains a partnership between ASCIA and Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia, and continues to implement the National Allergy Strategy
Funding
- The Hon Ged Kearney MP, Assistant Minister for Health and Ageing, launched the National Allergy Council and the National Allergy Centre for Excellence
- Funding grants were also announced - $16.6 million for the National Allergy Council and $10.2 million for the National Allergy Centre of Excellence
- The new grant will enable the National Allergy Council to continue to progress our existing projects and implement new projects such as the Shared care model for allergy
- The National Allergy Centre for Excellence funding grant will enable the establishment of a national allergy research structure to progress important allergy research in Australia
Schools and children’s education and care project
- 8,834 downloads of the Best practice guidelines for anaphylaxis prevention and management in children’s education and care in the past year
- 5,769 downloads of the Best practice guidelines for anaphylaxis prevention and management in schools in the past year
- 25,776 visits to the Allergy Aware website in the past year
- 6 parent education webinars held in partnership with Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia
Food service project
- The All about Allergens for Residential Care course was released in August
- 31,704 course enrolments in an All about Allergens course over the past year
- 13,848 site visits to the Food allergy training resource hub in the past year
- How to complete a standardised recipe template animation developed (6,406 views since release in May)
- The How to complete a food allergen menu matrix (11,588 views since release in May)
Food allergy prevention project
- Translated infant feeding video (4 languages)
- Translated eczema infographics (12 languages)
- Translated eczema videos (4 languages)
- 103,976 Nip Allergies in the Bub website visits in the past year
- 47,412 downloads of Food ideas for babies around 6 months in the past year
Allergy 250K youth project
- 10 Zoom chats with young adults
- First peer mentor camp held in Sydney
- 2 overnight camps for school aged teens held in Adelaide and Perth
- The school aged teens website was redesigned
- The young adult website was updated
Australian Digital Health Agency (My Health Record) project
- Developed a webinar and supporting ‘how to guide’ for health professionals working in allergy to uploading patient allergy information to My Health Record from their clinical software.
- Progressive discussions with the Agency terminology team about standardised allergy and adverse reaction terminology to be used in allergy alerts and electronic records.
